When I bought this I really like the look of it and how easy it was to install. After the 1st summer it started leaking water inside the bed of the truck. I removed the cover just in case I did something wrong, but it continue to leak when the vehicle is park. Now 2 and half years later still leaks and now I have found that the rubber at the folds are starting to tear. I had Extang cover before and after 10 years when I traded it in, it never leaked. Little to say this was a waste of money and I will have to buy a new cover.

The cover is great. Easy to installed and is very sturdy. Easy to open and fold up. Fits perfectly. Everyone comments on my cover (good comments). I added some sealant to a few places and no water has been found in my liner. Recommend to everyone.

Hi Folks, you might have seen reviewes, adds and/or descriptions of the product. Yes, it looks good and may very well last for a while (to be seen). It’s disappointing to see that the item received is in fact missing latches for the hard flip boards of the cover.
Everywhere the product is presented and shown with latches for each of the folds, providing a safe, sturdy and secure setup and use of the tonneau cover.
Reality is, some of the folds will have latches, while some won’t. What does it mean, you may ask yourselves? Once installed, the cover looks like any other. When you begin driving around, the folds without latches start bouncing around, up and down. You get water, dust and debris in your bed and whatever you may have in there.
To make things better, there’s no need for complicated smarts or tools to pup the cover open, it is enough to raise the hard fold panel without latches and reach out to either grab something or pull all the latches open without any difficulty. A child could do it in a split second.
This tonneau cover is reviewed as mid-range in price, quality and safety… it more looks like a scam given how the delivered product looks like. Especially considering the price tag $1.6K.
No better than the velcro flexible cover, from safety perspective or weather protection.
Amazon will provide you a full refund but no shipping being covered. This is very large, heavy item and it will cost you a lot of $$$ in shipping cost to return – I guess that’s what they’re counting on anyways.

A quality product that was easy to install. I watched a short YouTube video on installation which gave some helpful hints on single person installation. Total install time was less then an hour without a second set of hands.

I noticed some tiny drips of water after going through the car wash and again I noticed a tiny amount of water after a weekend of storming. Over all, this cover is very water resistant and I’m very pleased with it.

10/10 would recommend to any one looking for a hardened flip up cover.

Overall, a nice product and I would buy again. As for the question / rating about water resistance – I can’t speak to that as of yet, since it is a new install and hasn’t been water tested. As for the rest – the installation is fairly simple and the cover is strong and robust. Some things to watch:

    * Make sure to use the shims if the rails sit at a slight angle, due to some curvature of the bed rails – if they sit at a slight angle, you may have issues with the seal properly contacting the tailgate. There is a supplemental sheet that includes shims and tells you how to use them. Your truck may or may not need them.
    * They say to install the bulkhead seal as one of the first steps. The install instructions don’t clearly specify if the seal should be at the front, rear, or centered on the bulkhead (although the video does say to place it on the edge closes to the rear). I would wait and do this at a later step – for my truck, the bulkhead seal needed to be just a little bit away from the rear edge – meaning I had to remove it and reinstall it (this impacts the adhesive quality!). Its best to fit the cover first, then determine the exact location of the seal. Once the cover is properly fitted and in place, it will be very obvious where the seal needs to be – then you can easily lift off the cover (before securing it) and add the seal. Not having the seal does impact the general install and fitment of the cover – you just need to add the seal before bolting the cover down at the front.
    * Keep in mind – you don’t need the bulkhead seal if you have a drop in bed liner that covers the bulkhead. If the bulkhead surface is painted metal – you need the seal.
    * While installing the rails, start at the middle (place the first clamp in the middle). I used a vice-grips to initially hold the rail in place – I didn’t have a helper and this made it easy for me to keep the rail in place before installing the first clamp.
    * On the rear panel, I had an issue that required me to remove the latches on both sides of the cover / rear panel, reposition, and reinstall with the sheet metal screws (I used my screw gun for this – but be careful not to strip and over-tighten). The latches were installed with some adjustment capability, but not enough. The latches were sticking out too far and hitting the rails! At first I thought that my rails weren’t all the way in – I confirmed this wasn’t the issue. A look at the latches on the rear panel compared to the latches on the center latching panel clearly depicted my issue – the latches on the center panel (exact same type of latches) were further in, allowing clearance from the rail. The latches on the rear panel were clearly misadjusted and sticking out too far towards the rails. Again, I didn’t have enough adjustment on the latches to compensate. This was fairly simple to do – took an extra 5 or 10 minutes (after figuring out the issue). But this shouldn’t have been necessary. If yours sticks – check the rails before moving any latches. You want to make sure the rails are properly seated – otherwise they can interfere with the panels.

Overall, nice product and nice look! Hopefully it does a good job repelling water – I have heard feedback both ways. I didn’t want to rate that particular function as I haven’t tested it. Overall, it took less than an hour to install – even with the minor latch issue. I installed myself without a helper.

This is a very attractive and sturdy cover. It was fairly easy to install, too. I have never installed my own tonneau cover before and it took me a little over an hour to install this one, start to finish. Instructions were reasonably good, with helpful diagrams. It was well-packaged for shipping, to protect it. I have only had it on my truck for a couple days, but I really like how well it works. Very solid. It hasn’t rained yet, and no cover is completely waterproof, but this appears as though it will keep items in the bed dry and protected from the elements. I got the matte black and it is really good-looking.

I am so glad that I made this $1039.00 purchase. There are other, cheaper tonneau covers available on Amazon, but I received input from a professional installer that this was the top-of-the-line cover and I believed it and made the purchase. I am so glad I spent the extra money and got this BAKFlip MX4 cover for my 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. It was a perfect fit, easy to install, is really beautiful, totally functional, and is the perfect cover.

I DO RECOMMEND this product for anyone who wants a beautiful, secure, water-tight, easily-accessible, easy-to-install, and sturdy, five-year warranty for a cover. One may spend only a couple hundred dollars on a tonneau cover but one really does get what one pays for.

This is the tonneau cover for the discerning pickup truck owner.

You will not be disappointed with this purchase even if the initial price is a choking point. It is worth the money!!!
