Did the job, easy to install and fault free

Very simple switch that is closed when the steel wire pulls out the plastic pin (not shown in the photos). The two wires are shorted which engages my Blue Ox Patriot II brake system. Connected the two wires to a TNP 3.5mm Mono Cable (6FT) that I cut one end off to join to while the 3.5mm plug end connects into the Brake system. Less than $20 spent versus $80+ buying the Blue Ox equivalent. And when its not in use I can swivel it back out of the way as it does stick out some.
Here’s hoping the pin is never pulled out, while in transit 🙂

Installed it then a day or two later I was driving in a tight parking lot and it got the cable got caught on my fifth wheel and it pulled it out. Stopped it very quickly. It works well.

As advertised, good breakaway switch. All the right parts and installed easily.
I just wish I had included a caribinee to connect to the truck

Quality break-away switch and cable

My original Esco part failed after 3 years. (Never used – since this switch is a failsafe device only) The plastic eyelet that attaches the breakaway cable to the switch just fell off. It was attached that night, the next morning the cable is dangling with the remains of the eyelet still attached. This was in my driveway not at a campsite so don’t suspect foul play. The Curt switch is perfect replacement, attached the same, wired the same. Simple install just be sure to disconnect + positive side battery cable before removal of old part/install of new. Your Battery Disconnect switch will not remove power to this Trailer Breakaway switch!! It is wired “HOT” to the positive side of battery… hence remove battery cable First or you may find yourself welding instead.

The brake switch on my little camper was old and full of crud, so this replaced it. The pull-wire on the old one rusted and this is a shiny new stainless one.

Happy good price

I tend to pull our breakaway switch when doing a “tug test” on our 5th wheel camper as it checks the emergency brakes, locks the brakes to keep the trailer from moving to check the hitch connection, and exercises the switch so it does’t get stuck if it is ever needed. This one matched the original exactly in dimensions and is obviously simple to wire. Good choice for replacement or on a trailer that has had brakes added.

Nothing special, but has stainless cable. Didn’t include a screw for attachment, but I had the old one.
My old brake switch had corroded contacts and was unusable. This is a must-have $10 piece of safety equipment! Replace yours every couple of years.
