    I bought this for my mild performance rebuild of a 350, 4-bolt main motor from a ’79 Z28. I bought this pickup at the same time I bought a new stock Melling oil pump and pickup tube. It all seems to be working well.

    A must have especially with a high volume oil pump, and the extra torque created by them. The shaft has a nice fit and finish and is very heavy duty. I paired it up with a high volume oil pump and now have PLENTY of oil pressure and piece of mind that the driveshaft wont fall apart in my newly rebuilt engine.

    It works fine… Certainly more dependable than a plastic sleeve that’s going to become more brittle with each heat cycle.
    But the shaft itself is a smaller diameter than the stock shaft and it makes it a bit tricky to stab the primer tool and the distributor but once it’s stabbed, you can quit worrying about it.

    Can’t beat the quality of melling at a reasonable price. Ditch the stock plastic coupler and use the steel melling oil pump drive shaft.
