In bought this one as a used unit from Amazon for about half of the retail price. I did not want to spend close to $1000 for the Solid Fold 2.0. I was ready to buy a new one, but the used one happened to be available so I took it. If I wanted to keep the truck bed toolbox, I basically had only two choices – Extang Trifecta Toolbox 2.0 or Solid Fold Toolbox 2.0.
The product image on the site is incorrect. The Amazon site shows the full length version of Trifecta. The image needs to updated. See the photos that I uploaded as a reference. My Craftsman toolbox is 19” in width. The aluminum spacer that comes with the kit should accommodate 19 to 21” width toolbox from other makers. You have to adjust the placement of the front edge on the spacer so that the cover fits correctly and reach the top of the tailgate.
Because the top material is a continuous fabric piece, there is no rain water leakage that you read about the Solid Folid 2.0 due to the seams at the hinges. You will get some water from the edge of the cover where the gaps exist between the hinges and the rubber gasket.
It is very easy to install. I was able to install it in 20 minutes or so, including the time to make fine adjustments and alignment. I only needed a plier.
The only wishes that I have about this product are: 1. The trifold design does not give me the full use of the bed when folded (minus the length of the tool box). If I need to have the use of full length in open position, (minus toolbox) I have to remove the entire Trifecta cover. I wish it had a design similar to BakFlip that has the thinner 4th panel with hinges near the top front side of the bed, that allow the cover to be folded up to allow access to the full remaining length of the bed. With the current design, I basically have the used of only 1/2 of the bed if I want to carry tall items. 2. I wish the top cover material was heavier duty. I understand that there is a “premium“ material for the cover that I can buy for this, but why not come with heavy duty in the first place? The the cover material that comes standard is too thin. With the slightest rub with a sharp corner of a cargo or whatever I am carrying, I risk ripping the cover. I already ripped the cover on the 2nd day of ownership. A black duct tape to the rescue. I just wish that the cover material is rip resistant.
Overall, I think it is a good value compared to its cousin, Solid Fold.

Great and easy product! Be aware though; if you have a low profile tool box you’re going to have to remove the front part of the cover to access your tool box handles. All in all it’s what I wanted, but with that being said, I do not have immediate access to my tool box.

Great addition to my 1500. Fits with a standard truck tool box…about 19.5” depth. The instructions are easy and accurate on the box detail. Very easy to install.

Loved this cover, it is actually my 2nd one. I used this with a low profile toolbox, bought some lite guage 2″ square tubing and some end caps and put it all together, works and looks great. Just got back from Sturgis, over 2000 miles and this worked excellent!!

I love the soft cover! It works perfectly with my truck! I have never been happier with a purchase! It was extremely easy for me to set up I didn’t need to call anybody to come and help because they provide you with instructions to do it yourself. If you have a tool box and want a cover in the back as well I’m telling you guys this is what you need to get!

This is a nice cover. I shopped around for quite a while and finally settled on the Trifecta Toolbox 2.0. The first cover I received came with a mouse nest in the box. (See pictures.) After some back and forth with Amazon, and Extang (the manufacturer), I was finally able to secure a quality cover. Wasn’t too happy with the delay, or the process, but Extang did end up coming through and making it right.

Love every thing about it . So easy to install half of the installation time was unpacking it. it looks great and is nice and tight. Could not be happier with this cover fits perfect with my tool box. mileage and weatherproof unknown just installed it last week.

Amazing! Easy to install and use! Needed something for my husband’s truck but he did not want to have to remove his toolbox- this worked great! It also snowed and rained last weekend and our stuff stayed secure and dry.
